In order to succeed, Trinity Legal depends upon volunteer attorneys, law students, and lay community members working alongside our partnering agencies to provide legal services to the poor. The opportunity for ministry is great as you encourage and pray for individuals who need help and hope. If you are interested in becoming involved in this work, click on the register button on the right of this page.

Attorneys
Most Trinity Legal attorneys choose to donate time at least once a month at a clinic location (two hours); others choose to volunteer every other month or work only as referral attorneys who offer expertise on specific areas of law; and others may choose to take cases on a pro bono basis. Trinity Legal assists attorneys by working with their individual preferences.
Once committed to serving, at a clinic location, a volunteer goes through a brief training program and is paired with an experienced Trinity Legal volunteer attorney who trains them in policies and procedures. Trinity Legal volunteers almost always work in pairs, even after training is complete.
You don’t need to be an expert in any particular area of law to become involved. A reference manual, on-sight web access and referral information are provided at each location. Attorney intake can be viewed as “legal triage” as clients’ needs are assessed and appropriate services found.

Law Students
Our law students and paralegal volunteers are able to interact with attorneys and clients during client interviews. This hands-on experience working directly with attorneys and clients has proven to be of tremendous value to our law student volunteers.

Lay Volunteers
Lay volunteers greet clients upon their arrival at the clinic and are often the important “first touch” a client experiences. Helping to supervise children while parents meet with attorneys and performing routine clerical duties are important aspects of this job.
