Legal Clinic now hosted at City Rescue Mission
Trinity Legal opened its first clinic at the City Rescue Mission on June 19th , offering its residents legal consultations and assistance. Steve Robertson, Vice President, Client Services, worked closely with us to make the CRM clinic possible, and his experience proved to be invaluable as he coordinated the scheduling of appointments and assisted with follow-up activities in those early months of the clinic.
Steve was an associate pastor before being called to do mission work among the poor. His heart for the Lord and passion to assist those in need is evident whenever he speaks of the work of the City Rescue Mission. “The Lord is near to the brokenhearted.” Steve said quoting Psalm 34:18. “That is very obvious here.”
More recently, CRM staff member Chad Green has taken Steve’s place in assisting us with the ongoing work of the clinic at City Rescue Mission.
As with most ministries, it is often the one who comes to serve that leaves with a surprised blessing! Our volunteer attorneys will testify that at CRM this is true. We come to help but find that God uses the experience to grow us into a deeper understanding of HIS love, drawing the volunteer nearer HIS very heart!
If you desire to get involved with TLCO and its partnership with CRM, consider volunteering on a Tuesday from 3:30-5:30. Attorneys, law students, and laypersons are needed. The Mission is located at 800 W. California Ave in downtown Oklahoma City.
Today the Mission serves more than 1,200 meals a day and sleeps more than 500 men, women and children each night. It offers emergency relief services to meet the immediate physical needs of men, women and children who are homeless by offering nourishing food, hot showers, clean clothing, and a safe night’s rest. The mission’s resident recovery programs address life issues such as drug, alcohol and gambling addictions, job skills training and education opportunities, as well as dealing with domestic violence, and spiritual bankruptcy so that individuals can become productive members of the community..
